Eight months and expecting, the Bachchan 'bahu' Aishwarya is going to have her 'god bharai' or baby shower today (18-Oct-2011), according to media reports.
It’s mommy time in Bollywood with actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Lara Dutta Bhupathi expecting.
Aishwarya has not made too many public appearances since June. The shoot for a soap brand she endorses caught the first glimpse of the baby bump a few months back. Recently at Mata ki Chowki hosted by Sanjay Dutt and the North Mumbai Durga Puja hosted by Rani Mukherjees family, Aishwarya was seen with Amitabh and Jaya covering her baby bump with her sari or dupatta.
Her baby shower today (18-Oct-2011) can be expected to be one of the biggest events on the Bollywood calendar.
In some countries, a
baby shower is a way to celebrate the pending or recent birth of a child by presenting gifts to the parents at a party. The term "shower" is often assumed to mean that the expectant mother is "showered" with gifts.
Jaya Bachchan is hosting the grand godh bharai (baby shower) for daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at their residence at Jalsa. Says a source, "The Bachchans are known to be very traditional.
They celebrate all traditions and customs in a grand manner. And the arrival of Abhishek's baby calls for a major celebration, and the women of the family had been planning this for a long time. Ash, is due to deliver next month. Jaya is planning everything down to the last detail - from the menu to what her bahu will wear, to the jewellery, singing and dancing. The event will be held in the afternoon. As per Indian customs, the girl leaves for her mother's house after the baby shower. Ash will go to her mother's house and the Rais will follow their own customs and traditions, but that will be an intimate gathering of close friends and family members only."
According to reports, Abhishek's elder sister Shweta Nanda has flown in from Delhi to be with her mother and prepare for the first function.
Speaking of the guest list, a lot of celebs from Bollywood are expected, even though the baby shower ritual would be a private one. Gents are excluded from such ceremony. Buzz is that Gauri Khan, Sonali Bendre, Sussanne Roshan, Kirron Kher, Manyata Dutt, Maheep Kapoor and Bhavna Pandey are among those invited.
